Meet Us: Todd Boilanger

Meet us: Todd Boilanger

This month, we changed our insurance service providers to better fit the needs of our growth. It was a big decision for us.

Luckily, we were guided by Todd. He spent a lot of time with us, learning about our processes, plans, and growth. He really went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we have the right insurance at the best rates. While we already knew he was a great guy from when he volunteered with Sam on the Columbus Young Professionals board of directors, we didn't know what a helpful and thorough insurance agent he would be. We consider him a part of our team.

Todd is an Independent Insurance Agent at Richard E Hawes Insurance Inc. He handles Home, Auto, Business, Life & Health Insurance. Before his career in insurance, he was involved in commercial and real estate development at Breeden, Inc. He has held many leadership positions with Columbus Young Professionals, including President. He is married to Casey Boilanger, the Child Abuse Prevention Program Director for Bartholomew County. In his free time, he enjoys being on the lake, taking rides in their Jeep with the top down, and remodeling their house. His favorite 240sweet puff is S'more.

Chef Alexa introduces her new puff size

The perfect puff size is here!

You don't have to cut your 240sweet puffs up any more. For seven years, Chef Alexa has been experimenting with size to present you with the perfect puff. Our marshmallows are now all 1 1/8 inches by 1 1/8 inches.

Why? We have found that this is the perfect size for making s'mores and for popping in your mouth. One inch was just a little bit too small and 1 1/4 inches was just a little bit too big.

All marshmallows are still hand-cut for perfection. So that we can keep our all-natural recipe, 240sweet puffs are not cut with a machine or extruded.

What's next? Later this year, we hope to unveil new packaging and some other great things. We estimate that the bags will require a $7000 investment to design and make. We'll still use only Made in America packaging. As that is a lot of money for our small company, we have to wait until you support us with Christmas in July. Check out what we did with last year's investments. We appreciate your help in our growth.

S'mores Quesadilla Recipe

Thank you to Mary Willey for creating and sharing this fun recipe for S'mores Quesadillas! We appreciate that you put a picture up on our 240sweet Facebook page. We hope that you wear your Happy Camper thank you tee shirt to Puff Fest on July 12!

Please like and comment on Mary' original post.

S'mores Quesadilla

  • 2 12 inch flour tortillas
  • ¼ cup Best Boy & Co. fudge sauce
  • 1 favor pack of 240sweet Crunchy Cinnamon puffs
  • Tablespoon of butter, divided

1.      Preheat griddle to medium

2.      Start with one tortilla. Spread fudge sauce evenly on one side of the tortilla, leaving about half an inch at the edge. Scatter the marshmallows over the fudge sauce. Place the other tortilla on top.

3.      Melt butter on griddle.

4.      Place quesadilla on the griddle. Let it brown. Flip and let the other side brown. Hold in warm oven if you are making more than one.

5.      Remove to a cutting board and cut into wedges.

6.      Take a picture of friends and family enjoying it and post it online, tagging @240sweet.

Notes:

Mary (Sam's sister) used pan edges to make the quesadillas. That's why the puffs look so big in the picture. She cut them up. If you want, you can also cut up the Petite Puffs to make them melt faster.

Mary also used a quesadilla maker. You can do that, too.

You can use any flavor of 240sweet puffs that you like.

Also, you can substitute other fudge sauce. Best Boy & Co. brand sauces are favorites here at 240sweet and the Willey household.

10:00 am to 5:00 pm

Why:

The mission of the Artisan Foodworks Market is threefold:

1. to increase access to local, fresh, nutritious food and information about improved living;

2. to provide a venue for independent vendors including farmers, artists, and specialty/artisan vendors to connect with customers;

3. and to create a welcoming space for groups striving to improve our well-being, our community, the environment and the local economy to share their message.

The following are general guidelines for vendors who wish to participate in the Artisan Foodworks Market and also serve as your application to participate as a vendor on July 12, 2014. The Artisan Foodworks Market Committee (AFMC) reserves the right to make exceptions to these guidelines at its discretion on a case-by-case basis.

1. Operation of Market

Artisan Foodworks Market is organized under the direction of 240sweet Artisan Foodworks. It is overseen by the Market Master, Samantha Aulick and AFMC. You can contact us at Sam@240sweet.com or by phone at 812-372-9898.

This is an outdoor/indoor market operating rain or shine. The AFMC reserves the right to cancel or close the market early due to extreme weather conditions with no refunds.

2. Goods Permitted to be Sold

Approved vendors agree to offer only the highest quality produce and other goods at the Artisan Foodworks Market in strict accordance with all applicable laws and Artisan Foodworks Market policies. An exception is made at Puff Fest to allow for healthy living/natural/green/food-related items that are purchased wholesale to be sold retail.

The AFMC shall have sole authority and discretion as to permission to offer goods for sale at the Artisan Foodworks Market.

Subject to applicable federal, State and local laws, regulations and guidelines, the following goods may be sold at the Artisan Foodworks Market:

Sampling products must be done in accordance with Federal, State, Local and Bartholomew County Health Department rules and regulations. Product sampling must be done from within your own booth space.

If selling by weight, vendors must have certified scales with current inspections stickers.

3. Health and Safety Requirements

The vendor is solely responsible for assuring that all goods offered are safe, edible, and in compliance with all applicable regulations.

All items intended for human consumption must be kept off the ground at all times and stored and displayed in safe and sound conditions. The vendor is solely responsible for damages resulting from the sale of unsafe or unsound goods. No potentially hazardous, spoiled or contaminated foods may be offered for sale. If you have questions regarding a particular food that is included in the minimally processed food items list, contact the Bartholomew County Health Department.

It is the responsibility of the vendor to keep abreast of all county and state rules and ordinances as they apply to the products that the vendor sells.

No smoking is allowed on the grounds of the Artisan Foodworks Market.

Vendors are not permitted to bring pets or to have pets in their vendor space.

4. Vendor Guidelines

All vendors are solely responsible for all claims, injuries, and damages resulting from their sale of unsound or unsafe goods and/or their participating in the market.

Vendors are solely responsible for their own equipment including but not limited to tables, chairs, bags, scales, display racks, umbrellas, canopies, and storage containers.

Vendors are encouraged to carry liability insurance.

Vendors are responsible for and shall fully comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances pertaining to their products, and shall have obtained all necessary licenses, permits, and inspections prior to selling any products at the market and will display those permits as required.

Vendors are responsible for making sure all helpers and workers know and understand the rules and terms of the market including where to park.

Vendor families with children must have their children under adult supervision at all times.

Vendors are expected to treat customers, fellow vendors, market managers and all others in a polite respectful manner at all times.

Vendors are responsible for collecting all applicable sales tax in accordance with state and local laws.

Reserved vending space can be revoked at any time by the AFMC if any of the regulations are not followed, paperwork has not been submitted, or if payment in full has not been received.

No vendor will be allowed to sell or sublease their space.

The AFMC is authorized to direct any vendor to leave the Artisan Foodworks Market site, remove any poor quality or unacceptable goods from sale at the Artisan Foodworks Market, or instruct a vendor to not return if, for any reason, that vendor is not making a significant contribution to the Artisan Foodworks Market. No monies paid will be refunded.

5. Market Rules

Assignment and Limits of Space--Each regular full outside space is approximated 10 ft by 15 ft. Indoor spaces are the size to fit a six-foot table with room behind for standing. Market fees apply to one space. Vending spaces are assigned on a first come, first serve basis at the discretion of the AFMC. Vendors are limited to one vehicle per site. The vendor must be on site by 9:00 am on the day of market.  Vendors should be prepared to sell promptly at 10:00 am.

Equipment and Supplies--Each vendor must supply his own tables or other display equipment. Each vendor is solely responsible for any damages or personal injury resulting from its equipment or set-up.

Electricity will be made available to vendors on a limited basis only and must be arranged for in advance. Vendors must provide their own commercial grade extension cords (100ft).

Umbrellas, tents, canopies, or other weather protection devices will be supplied by each vendor. Vendors MUST provide weights to hold down their umbrella, canopy or tents. Minimum requirements are 20 pounds/leg weights for all unsecured legs. Vendors are advised to attach 40 pound canopy weights to all corners of the tent. Canopy weights are the most effective method to secure a tent or canopy in high winds.

Failure to Comply--Failure to comply with these Market Rules will result in the AFMC directing the Vendor to leave the Market for the duration of the Market season.

Rule Changes--All rules are subject to change at the discretion of the AFMC. Vendors will be notified of all rule changes in writing.
